G Technology G-Raid 2TB External Hard Drive Review g technology g drive setup

hi. i have one of these but an older 500gb model. Do you know if I can just upgrade to a 2tb or 4tb with two new drives? is it still a fast enough drive for video editing files if it only does usb 2 and not 3? esata is probably older too. i have a computer with just updated usb3 and sata 3 adapters. but perhaps even a newer g-raid would only go so fast.. thanks for any help in deciding.

I just picked up the G-Raid mini, based on the fact it uses the same HDs I run in one external case, as well as my Mac laptop. However, the sheer unnecessary noise the fan generates is intolerable to me. If you were someone capturing audio, it's a no-go. It sounds almost like a blow drier on a low setting. Fan in on almost all the time. Looks great, but it's being returned. Too bad. These manufacturers need to make fan-less RAIDS.

I've a couple of questions:
Does the G-RAID make noise when it is on? Does it turn off when your shut down your Mac? And can you configure the G-RAID in RAID 1 so the data is mirrored?
I hope that you can answer these questions.

On Apple's website there is a G-Technology 6TB G-RAID Drive, that must be a monster.

Hi Dane,
My G Tech drive has a power adapter which take 100-240v input, so it works fine. Go on B&H's live chat feature when they are online and speak to them – they should be able to clear it up for you.
